When the Magic Changes

This Christmas felt a little different in our house.

The kids are growing up. The magic looks different now. The wide-eyed belief, the early-morning excitement, the sense that something extraordinary was just around the corner — it’s changing. And with that comes the quiet realization that time is, in fact, moving forward… whether we’re ready for it or not.

We’ve officially entered the stage where the kids are no longer believers — but are very committed to believing in sleeping in, gift receipts, and asking what time brunch is. Progress comes in many forms.

We’ve been thinking a lot about how traditions evolve as families do. How the moments that once felt familiar begin to shift — sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once. And how that can feel both tender and a little bittersweet.

But we’re also learning that change doesn’t mean loss.

The magic isn’t gone — it’s just showing up differently. In deeper conversations. In shared laughter. In staying up later. In memories layered with meaning instead of mystery. There’s still something special here, especially when we slow down enough to notice it.

This season invites us to soak in what is, rather than mourn what was. To appreciate the chapters we’ve lived, while staying open to the beauty of the ones unfolding now.

As Christmas settles behind us and the year winds down, we’re choosing to savor the quieter magic — the kind that comes from presence, reflection, and occasionally realizing you don’t actually need batteries for anything this year.

Wherever you find yourself right now, we hope you’re able to soak it in too.
